Waxing

I decided I was going to wax my face today. I do it regulary. I have done it tons of time and I thought I knew how to do it. With age I have began having visible hair all over my face. Before it was hair on my upper lip. Now it’s also on my chin and my left cheek. Not on my right but on my left! I always wax my face because then it takes time for it to grow back. With waxing it also doesn’t grow back dark and “hard”.

I used the wax today I almost always use. It’s cold wax strips. I have used warm wax and “soft” wax but it doesn’t take off all the hair. I wax before I’ve put any cream on my face. A clean cream free skin make the wax get more hair. I began with my chin and upper lip. You should never wax more than once in one area. I know that but even so I found the hair on my chin didn’t come off. I waxed a couple of times even though I felt that my skin was “burning”. I also waxed my left cheek more than once. Let me tell you it burned! I didn’t think I was waxing the same area ons the cheek more than once however because of the burning feeling I must have done it. When I was done waxing I put on oil which I always do. Oil soothes the skin and removes wax residues. I thought that would help me with the burning cheek. But it didn’t.

The skin is fine here.
The burn marks aren’t that visible in this picture but they are there. And my skin is swollen.
I forgot to tell you that I accidentally waxed my hand. It got severe burn marks from the wax.
This is the next day. Today the burn marks are a lot less visible.

Now my left cheek is burning and the skin is red and irritated. I burned my skin when I waxed a long time ago and I know that it will be red for a while and then the skin will peel off. Make up doesn’t hide the burn marks. I will have to walk around with red skin and also skin that has “flakes” on it. I feel great. I have all these problems and flaky skin makes it even greater, not. I want to hide until the skin had healed. It’s not possible. I have to think about what to say If someone asks what I’ve done. I can’t say I have waxed my face. Great!

Today the burn marks on my hand are a lot less visible too. Feels great.

Skin mistakes

I have learned the hard way what not to do when it comes to skincare. This time I will tell you about two skincare mistakes.

We were having many people coming over. You know what it’s like. When you have many people coming you want to look your best. A couple of days before that gathering I decided to wax my uppger lip and chin. I have lots of little light hairs on my face. Especially on my upper lip and chin. I didn’t want to look like the bearded lady and I wanted the hairs gone. I have waxed lots of time. I thought this would be as easy as it usually is. Of course it wasn’t. The hairs didn’t come off and I waxed and waxed. You should never wax one area on the face more than once. I waxed…………….. a lot. I pulled and pulled the wax strips but no hair was removed. Instead of getting the hair off I got burn marks. The skin was red and irritated. As the days went on the burn marks got more red and the skin began to peel off. This was the condition of my skin when the people were coming. I tried to cover the burn marks with make up but it made them even more visible. I sat there with hair AND looked like I had been in a fire with my face. I was the bearded lady with red flaky skin.

My second mistake happened on the SAME occasion. I bought an over night self tanning lotion. It was a self tanning lotion I’ve never tried before. I decided to use it the night before the people were coming. It was a dark shade and you should put it on one time in the evening. You should avoid the eye area. The description said you would have a healthy glow the next day. I put the lotion on twice thinking I would get a good color. In the morning I woke up to the darkest color I’ve ever had on my face and with white circles around my eyes. It looked like I had been in the sun for hours without sun screen and the white circles looked like I had worn sunglasses that stopped any sun reaching my eyes. No make up could hide the dark color and white circles. That day I was hairy had burn marks was 10 times browner that I had ever been before and had white circles around my eyes. No one said anything but they must have thought something.

Lesson learned, never do any waxing or try new self tanning lotions before an important event.

Hairy women

I am one hairy woman. I know it is more common than you think. No hairy woman I know is proud about it and we keep quiet about it. That is why it’s embarrasing. No one talks about it. You don’t hear any women at your job sittning in the coffee break room saying “me and monkeys have something in common, fur.”

Women having body and face hair are hiding it. We do everything to both hide and remove it. I have tried every method available. I have never shaved my face because I know that it would make every shaven hair grow out of hand. They say face hair doesn’t get dark and coarse when you shave it however I know my hair would. I wax my face. I have tried tweezers but that takes a whole day to remove all hair. I love face wax because it doesn’t take long to do your whole face. This is my favorit.

Veet wax strips.

I wash my face when I am about to wax it. Face creams and dirt make the wax strips useless. The strips don’t stick to your skin and hair when you have creams in the way. I never wax an area more than one time. When you do you get burn marks. When I have waxed I use an oil to heal the skin and remove excess wax residue.

Dog hair

True happiness! You find a long hair on your body and it’s only dog hair.

I didn’t have wine to congratulate me. Candy is more than better.

Invisible hair

I told you about my face wax. The wax that made my skin burn. Happy memories. This time it’s body hair bleach.

This was long ago. It was my first time as an au pair in London. I thought bleaching my leg hair would make it invisible. It was long ago and then hair removal products were almost harmful. I decided to do it when the kid I was watching had an afternoon rest. I often had him sleep longer then than the mom had said he would. I was a young girl and had to have that time to myself. The parents were not home and cause of that I thought the living room was the right place to do it. I mixed the bleaching powder with everything in the box it came with. There was powder everywhere. I put it on my legs and had time to myself.

I sat with the bleach without trousers on……..and the front door slowly opened. It was the father. He came home early. There I was without trousers. Bleach on my legs. Bleaching powder everywhere. And the kid was sleeping when he shouldn’t be sleeping. I put my trousers on before the father saw me. The bleach was burning. I don’t know how but I also got the powder off the furniture. I said we had to buy groceries and he went to the store.

The bleach had to be rinsed off. I had to it fast and I did. My leg hair wasn’t bleached and all I got was rashes. I got countless spots. Don’t do body hair removal without time to do it.

Wax strips. I had no bleaching powder.

Waxing

Never wax anywhere near the face when people are about to visit. I made that mistake a while ago. I have waxed my face before. And I’ve used the same brand all the times I’ve waxed.

We were about to get a visit from a big group of friends. I thought my upper lip was more than hairy at the time. Waxing is the most effective method when it comes to eliminate hair. It takes the hair away and leaves you without it longer than most hair removal methods. I find that wax strips are better to use on the face cause they’re not as hard on the skin as warm wax is. Rather I used to find strips better until this hair removal.

I decided to wax just days before the visit. I’ve used wax strips before and didn’t get any bad skin reaction. I haven’t got a clue why I decided to do it then. I could have done it long before this but didn’t. I waxed like I always do but the hair didn’t come off.

I used strip after strip and nothing happened. My skin felt damaged but I kept waxing. After a while my skin felt like it was on fire. I had to leave it. No hair was removed and my skin was hurting.

The friends came and it wasn’t my best visit. I had tried to remove the face hair but there I was hairy and with burn marks. My skin was completely damaged. Hair removal isn’t anything you want to discuss at a dinner but I had to. I couldn’t pretend nothing was wrong when my skin was on fire.

Hair removal

Before I begin writing I must say it’s not easy to talk about this but I’ll do it anyway.

I know many women are obsessed when it comes to remove unwanted hair. We want thick hair on our head and no hair anywhere else. We wax and tweeze and we can never remove enough hair. I think it’s crazy but that’s the way things work.

I don’t know about you but the hair on my upper lip is hard to remove. It’s soft and short and a tweezer doesn’t help. It sounds good to have short hair but when there are thousands hair strands you want to remove them. All that hair takes a long time when you use a tweezer. I’ve found the perfect method for it. Threading.

I went and did it a while ago. I did it at a hair salong. It was a hair dresser that did the threading. It was painful but no more than when you use tweezers or wax. The hair dresser used a piece of thread and removed the hair. Like I said it was painful but not unpleasant. The hair dresser was good at it and did it fast. The skin on my upper lip was a bit red after but that went away fast.

Now I have no upper lip hair. I will never use tweezers again because this was the best.
