Scones

20161124_15181620161124_15360320161124_17541920161124_175540I like all things that are easy to make. Scones are easy to bake. They taste good and they don`t feel as unhealthy as other cakes. I find them to be cross between a cookie and a bread.

I`ve tried many different scones recepies but I think these are the most tasty ones. These scones contains both eggs and sugar which makes them really good.

Ingredients:

7,5 dl wheat flour

0,5 teaspoon salt

1,5 teaspoon baking powder

0,5 dl sugar

125 gr butter

1 egg

2 dl milk

Oven: 250 C

Mix all the dry ingredients. Add the butter, egg and milk. Stir until the batter is even.

Make 10 scones and put them on a baking tray. Put some beaten egg and sugar on top of them. Bake for 10 minutes in the middle of the oven.

Cute

Kajsa looks as cute as ever. She helps with the christmas decoration. She wants to be where we are all the time. I love that.

 

Calming

20161123_174948I`ve had an itchy scalp for a long time. I have tried many things that were supposed to calm the scalp but nothing has worked. Instead they often make it itch more. I have used different shampoo`s that would help with dandruff and built ups but they also made it itch more. Dandruff shampoo`s are often very harsh to your hair and if you don`t really have dandruff they can damage it.

This product works for me. It`s climbazole 4. It`s a leave-in scalp tonic. You can use it as a pre-shampoo treatment but I think it`s better to apply it after the hair has been washed. Then it has more time to do it`s job until the next hair wash. I apply it to my scalp by first putting it in my hands and then I rub it on. I did put it on straight from the bottle the first time I used it but I found that I got too much of the tonic on the scalp. By doing it with the hands I get the right amount.

It smells like tee tree oil. I like that. When you have applied the tonic the smell gradually fades away though. The best thing about it is that your hair won`t look greasy at all. The texture of the tonic is very light and it “melts” into your hair. I have used it for a while now and my hair feels better than it has in a long time. Great stuff.

Wrinkle

I love all things in beauty. Skincare in particular. I think the older you get the more you have to care about taking your skin. Wrinkles begin to show and the sooner you take care of them the better. Today there`s a whole range of different products  out there and they fit every need when it comes to skin.

Botox is one alternative in the fight against wrinkles. For all of us that can`t afford it or simply just don`t want try it there`s other things to use. There are many skincare products that claim to be as good as botox and I have found a brand that is great. You might have heard of it: Nip Fab. They have many different products and this one, the viper venom series does a great job in smoothing wrinkles. I love this “Frown fix”. It doesn`t hide all the wrinkles but you definitely see a difference. I put it on my forehead and around my mouth twice daily and my wrinkles decreases. Try it!

 

Banana

I think that eating healthy is important. I know my anxiety gets better when I feed my body with the right food. I eat unhealthy things too, candy in particular, but I always have in mind to eat vegetables and fruit. I eat processed food but I make salads to go with it. My anxiety needs to be fed the right food in order for me to cope. A strong body gives a stronger mind.

Speaking of healthy, I think bananas are great. They come in a package filled with good things. I don`t like to eat them the way they are but I put them in yoghurt and other things. They can sooth sore muscles because of the high levels of potassium. They are also the fruit with the highest level of carbs which make them great to eat both before and after workouts. They can lower a high blood preassure and the potassium can help with stress. I would never replace medicines with bananas but it`s good to know. The magnesium can sooth headaches.

Like I said I would never replace medicines with fruit but if eating it can help somewhat with illnesses everyone should eat more of it.

Fish

I should eat fish more often. I don`t know how to make fish tasty and that`s why I seldom cook fish dishes. I think  fish needs a good sauce and there`s the problem. With meat you can just make a sauce out of the meat juices in the pan but with fish you need more. There are many ready made sauces but I often don`t like them. And then there`s the fish itself. I don`t like them all. My least favourite is salmon. Almost everyone likes it but I find the taste over welming. Whatever you do with salmon it just taste salmon.

This fish dish started as a sauce for baked potatoes. We had it with potatoes, butter and salt. Because I`m lazy I thought that baked potatoes required too much of an effort to eat (I said I was lazy). Then I began frying potato pieces to go with the sauce and that`s what I do now. To make it even easier I cook the potatoes in the oven while I make the sauce.

I can`t give you the amounts of the ingredients cause I don`t use a recepy but here`s what I put in the sauce.

Creme fraiche

Tinned tuna in water

Tomato purèe

Red onion in small pieces

Dried dill

Salt and pepper

I mix it all in a bowl and serve with fried potatoes.

Flap jack

I don`t know what to think about flap jacks. When I make them nothing goes as it should. This time I couldn`t cut them in pieces after they had been in the oven. They fell apart when I did. I had to put the warm mixture in cupcake papers to make some kind of cakes out of it.

Anyway they are the easiest snacks you can make. You just put the ingredients in a pan to mix them together and then it all goes in the oven in a tin.

Ingredients

150 gr butter

0,5 dl golden syrup

1 dl sugar

5 dl oatmeal

0,5 teaspoon salt

1 dl dried fruits

Oven: 175 C

Melt the butter, syrup and sugar in a pan. When it has melted add the rest of the ingredients and stir.

Put the mixture in a tin and bake for 15-20 min in the bottom half of the oven.

 

Stress

I have had a stressfull week. I have had meetings and things I needed to do. Now my anxiety is high and I`m tired. Tired is not the right word. I`m more on the other end of that word. I haven`t gone running much this week instead I have taken long walks to clear my mind. Kajsa is great when I`m feeling like this because it`s easier to take walks with her than to do it on my own.

I have to think about how I feel. I can`t have too much to do. If I try to do too much my anxiety will get out of hand. It`s important to be kind to yourself. When you don`t feel like doing something you don`t have to then don`t. That`s something that`s been hard for me to do. I have always wanted to be there for others and because of that I have forgotten

about my own feelings. I`m much better at saying no these days.

Already made

I like watching cooking shows on tv. Masterchef the England version is my favourite show. The judges are great because they are sympathetic and nice. When the contestants don`t do that good the judges don`t make them feel bad. There are other Masterchef versions where the judges are horrible.

There are talkshows where there are cooking segments. I like them too. One thing that strikes me when I watch them is that the stoves don`t seem to do what they should. You never see the food getting cooked. When they shoot something that`s supposed to be cooking there`s nothing going on. No bubbles in the so called boiling water or the butter in a frying pan sizzling away. There are food there but nothing happens.

Often the cooks say that things are already made. They make a dish and instead of completing it they pull out something that`s “already made”. I know that certain things takes too long to cook and to be able to show how the dish should look Before the program ends they need to make some things ahead of the show. I don`t know if that is the actual reason though. What if the stoves in some of these shows are just props and the only way of having a dish to show is to have something already made. I don`t know.
