Dogsercise

Kajsa loves when we exercise. We run almost everyday. She is the best little running companion. She never says no and she likes it. We have been running since she was old enough to do it. I have always exercised and I have done many various sports. Running is my favourite one because you don`t have to travel to a gym. It doesn`t cost much ( it can be if you choose expensive clothes ) and you get to be outside. I love this time of year because it`s the best to run when the air is crisp and cold. I never run, or I might do short runs, in the summer because it`s too warm for Kajsa then.

I have started doing strength exercises at home after every run. I feel that my running gets much better when I do that. I like to build my strength and not just my running skills. I also like that you don`t have to be in a gym to do it. I think it`s frustrating to be in a room with others where you have to wait for the machine you want. Often I have had to skip machines because everyone else was using it.

Kajsa snores in the sofa when I do my exercises. She gets her sleep and I get my strength.

Relax

I have been feeling more than stressed lately. I haven`t been able to relax. I thought about what I could do and decided to take a relaxation class. I have read that those things are good when you`re dealing with stress. The reason I just didn`t try to do this myself is that I haven`t had much experience in those things. I wanted someone to show me how it`s done.

I looked online for relaxation classes and found one. This was a couple of days ago and the class was yesterday. I decided to start the journey to the yoga studio, where the class was being held, early because I only sort of knew where it was at. I knew the area but not the exact location of the studio.

I took the train and I had to change to another train on the way in order to get to where I wanted. When I got to the station where I would change trains I realized the class was about to begin shortly. It had taken much longer than I had thought. And the train I waited for to take me the rest of the way weren`t due for some and if I had waited for it I would have missed the class. My stress level was through the roof at this point. I started walking instead but I knew that I would never make it in time that way.

I decided to get a taxi. Even if I wasn`t far away from the studio there was no way I could get there on my own. Now comes the next stress explosion. I hadn`t refilled my mobile and had no money to call a taxi company. I hysterically went in to a burger place and borrowed their phone.

The taxi came right away and after a couple of minutes the taxi drove me as far as it could. The studio was in an area with many apartment buildings and cars aren`t allowed to drive there. When I got out of the taxi I didn`t know where to go. I was hysterical and asked many people if they knew where the studio was. Finally I got there, not in time I might add.

Now comes the bit that made me want to cry. I rushed into the studio and because the other participants in the class already laid ready on the floor ready to begin I had to whisper that I was sorry I was late. The woman that was leading the class asked to see my receipt where it showed that I had payed. I booked the class a couple of days earlier and payed online at the same time. I didn`t bring the receipt and I thought I couldn`t participate. I felt the tears wanting to pour out because I had been so stressed to get there and when I got there the woman wanted me to show her a receipt.

I didn`t cry and I got to take the class. I would have enjoyed it more if I hadn`t had all the craziness before it.

Fruits

I try to be healthy. I’m not a health freak but I exercise and eat healthy. What I mean with eating healthy is that I try to avoid processed food. I do eat it and when I do I make a nice salad to go with it.

One of the things that has become my health routine is citrus fruits. I always drink freshly squeezed lemon juice everyday. I find that it makes a big difference when I do that. For a while I stopped doing it and I began noticing that I got cracks on my tongue and my gum felt sore. I don’t know if me not drinking lemon juice caused the changes but I don’t know what else it could be. I don’t put sugar in the juice I like it the way it is.

One of my biggest struggle when it comes to being healthy is candy. I love candy. I can’t have dinner and not finish it with a lot of candy. I get irritated when I eat and then skip the sweets. I have had times where I have stopped eating candy for a while and I got through it fine but it’s boring in a way to not eat sugar.

Tasty

I won’t call this post Food idea because I know that most of you probably won’t try it. It was the dinner for today. You should try it though cause it’s delicious!

It’s bacon and black pudding. What black pudding is, for those of you that don’t know, is a pudding made from blood and other things. I haven’t read what the other ingredients are because if I did I would never eat it again. It’s enough that I know about the blood.

This is everyday food in this country. It doesn’t cost much and it is tasty. On the plate shown there’s also lingonberry jam which is necessary. It’s not complete without it.

Lazy bread

I love homemade bread. I love the smell when you bake it and the taste is something else than the ones you buy. The only thing is that it’s usually time consuming. After a day at work or even on a day off you might not feel like baking for hours.

That’s why this recepy is perfect! It’s a bread for the lazy. It was easy from the beginning and I have made it even easier.

You’ll need:

75 gr yeast

50 gr butter

5 dl water

1 tbs salt

1 tbs sugar

1 tbs olive oil

12 dl wheat flour

( tbs – I mean a big spoon like the ones you eat soup with )

Put the yeast in a bowl. Melt the butter and add the water and get the mixture to 37 C.

Add the butter mixture and the rest of the ingredients to the bowl. The recepy says that you should work the dough for a couple of minutes however I don’t. I do it for 1 minute. There will be “holes” in the bread but I don’t care.

The recepy also says that you should make 20 rolls and put them on a baking tray to rise for 15 minutes. I just put the whole dough on the tray and let it rise for 15 minutes. Easy!

Bake for 7 minutes at 250 C in the middle of the oven.

When the bread has cooled cut it into squares.

 

Cruelty

There’s one thing I hate and that’s animal cruelty. It gets me every time I see something about it. Humans can be down right evil and I hate it.

I have a Pinterest account and a board about dogs there. I never search or pin articles about abused dogs but once in a while something about that comes into my news feed (or what you call it) and that breakes my heart. I tell myself “don’t look” but sometimes I do and then I can’t stop thinking about it.

It doesn’t have to be dogs, I hate all animal cruelty. There are tv shows about those that rescue abused animals and the few episodes I have watched have been disgusting. I have only watched a few and I avoid looking. If I do I keep thinking about it forever.

I wonder what’s wrong with the abusers. What do they get out of hitting their animals. How fun is it to starve them.

I support a dog shelter and I know it’s not much but at least it’s something. If I had lot of money I would do more. I wish I could adopt all the dogs that need to be. No animal should be in need.

Treats

Much of the dog treats available are not good. They smell bad and has additives that shouldn’t be there. Even if dogs like smelly stuff you often wonder what they put in the treats to make them smell like that. Many doesn’t smell of what they should be made of. Liver treats are one of those that smells disgusting. I don’t like liver but it doesn’t smell like that. There was another treat that smelled so bad that I had to throw it out. They often don’t even have natural flavours.

Treats often have sugar in them and that’s hard to get. Dogs don’t care about the sweetness give them real flavours instead.

I have found a treat that is natural and I will write about that another time. In the meantime I can tell you I made my own dog treats today. I just used ingredients I know are good to dogs. I didn’t think about writing down how much I used of the ingredients and I can only give you an estimate of it.

1 egg ( I’m sure of that )

1 tablespoon peanut butter

1 small piece of apple ( in small pieces and remove the peel and seeds )

2 dl oats

I mixed everything together and I tried to shape the mixture into bones. I don’t know if I succeeded. I put the “bones” in a tin and cooked them at 150 C for 20 minutes.

Kajsa loved them!

I have to say that you should only give them to your dog in moderation as they contain peanutbutter that is not exactly diet food.

 

Food ideas

I love pasta and a rich sauce.

This is pasta and a vegetarian sauce. I just put whatever I like in sauces and in this there’s: peppers, fresh tomatoes and tinned ones. Onions, garlic and cream. I used whole grain pasta.
