I have something on my mind that makes me angry. And that is how we decide what kind of sickness is “the best”. With that I mean how we view different sicknesses (is that the right word?). In this post I will focus on physical and mental sickness.
I have suffered from mental health problems for most of my life and still today these problems are something you do not talk about openly. I am not someone that likes to talk about myself and when I meet someone new my health is certainly not something I share right away. But I feel that if it is being talked about the other person either do not know what to say (which I truly understand) or begin to talk about their physical health.
If you have two people, one with mental health problems and one with a broken leg. It is the broken leg one that gets all the “getting better” wishes. I know most can relate the easiest to a broken leg but it is like physical pain hurts a lot more than mental.
Physical pain often gets better with time. Mental pain however often becomes harder and harder.
I know I am rambling a little bit but I feel that someone with mental health problems never ever are thought of as strong or brave for trying their best while someone with a broken leg is.
